About the event
Don Divin Niyitunga, our East Africa Regional Lead led the workshop on behalf of the Water Storytellers Collective.
In his presentation titled, "Youth, NDC 3, and Climate Change Adaptation Work in Burundi: From Participation to Decision-Making, " he argued that in a country with such a young population, youth cannot remain only consulted. They must help shape, implement, and monitor Burundi's national climate commitments. I focused on moving from consultation to meaningful participation in climate governance, particularly for NDC 3 and adaptation priorities.
Key recommendations from young participants:
-Include young people meaningfully in the development of Burundi's next NDC.
-Strengthen youth representation in climate-related decision-making processes.
