WSC Privacy Policy
How we look after the information and the stories you trust us with.
People come to this Collective willing to share their work, their networks, and sometimes the most personal parts of their relationship with water. That trust is the whole foundation of what we do. Here is our commitment about how we handle it, in plain language.
Our promises
-
We will never sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to funders. We don't rent or trade it either.
-
We ask first. Your story, name, photo, and voice are never published or reused in a new context without your agreement.
-
You can change your mind. Consent given today can be withdrawn tomorrow with no explanation needed, no awkwardness from us.
-
We collect the minimum. If we don't need it to run a program, we don't ask for it.
-
We don't profile you. No behavioral tracking, no automated decisions, and we never sort our community by belief, identity, nationality, or politics.
-
We protect people who are exposed. If sharing a story could put someone at risk, we publish safely or not at all.
What we collect
-
Monthly Water Brief: Your email, and optionally your name, country, and line of work which just helps us write something more useful.
-
Community of Practice: Your phone number, so we can add you to the WhatsApp group. Other members can see it, along with your display name and photo.
-
Events & registrations: Name, email, and sometimes your role, country, or accessibility needs. We always say in advance if a session is being recorded.
-
Contributors & volunteers: Your bio, photo, links, the work you contribute, and a written record of what you agreed to.
Who else sees it
We are a small volunteer organisation using ordinary tools like a newsletter platform, video conferencing, WhatsApp, cloud storage, our website host. They process information on our instructions only. Partners and funders receive aggregate numbers, never our membership list. Where an event is co-hosted, we tell you at registration.
Respect and non-discrimination
This is a welcoming place, and we mean that as an operating instruction rather than a slogan. We don't judge the people who come to us, and we hold no position on anyone's faith, culture, nationality, or personal beliefs.
WSC is non-partisan. We don't endorse parties or candidates, and we never share your information with political campaigns. But being non-partisan doesn't make us neutral about discrimination. We won't amplify content that demeans people for who they are, and we won't let information held here be used to target or endanger anyone. Where those two commitments pull against each other, protecting people comes first.
